Jam & Bread

Homemade Raisin Bread (left) & Wheat Bread (right) Sandwich Loaves

I finally created a couple of wheat sandwich loaves that were tall enough to produce decent sized sandwich slices. I made one a plain wheat bread and one I turned into cinnamon raisin bread. This was my first time making the raisin bread and I didn't quite get the raisins and cinnamon to produce the nice spiral swirl effect I was aiming for. See the photo below.

Cinnamon Raisin Bread Sliced ~ raisins slightly misaligned

It still tasted good though, even if the raisins were sort of all clumped together in places. Next time I will make a few adjustments to my swirl technique.

Remember that Homemade Strawberry Jam?

I had to make some sandwich bread so that I could eat some of my homemade strawberry jam that gave me so much trouble last weekend. I've been looking at the jars sitting on my kitchen counter all week admiring the deep rich red color. Tonight was the first time I tried some of this particular batch.

It was very good!

That's some yummy looking raisin bread, and very tall too.

Missed the cinnamon ingredient when first reading the posting, what a great combination and with such artistic swirling too.

I really like pbj's with homemade strawberry jam. ♥♥♥

Wow! Your bread loaves are just gorgeous. As far as your "swirl technique" how is that done? Like pat the dough out into a disk-like shape, and then roll it up with a few extra kneads to hold it together??? It's delicious, I'm sure, like you said even with the raisins in clumps. And almond butter . . . yummo! Nice dinner for a warm summer evening, indeed.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the praise. These loaves turned out well. Finally tall enough to please me. The swirling needs more work.

Hi CA Grammy,
Thank you too for the bread praise. Yes, I flattened the dough into a disc shape and then sprinkled on the cinnamon and raisins and rolled it up into a log before placing it in the loaf pan.I should have maybe put some butter on the dough first to help the raisins stay in place while I rolled it up. Instead, they all fell together in the big clumps! Next time I will try to stick them in place better.
