Strawberry Pies

Luscious Strawberries, Sweet Glaze and Flaky Crust

So I bought a flat (12 pints) of fresh, locally grown, organic, ripe strawberries. Washed them and hulled them:

Fresh. Ripe. Juicy.

Made a couple of flaky pie crusts:

Ugly but flaky!

Cooked up some strawberry glaze and made two very tasty fresh strawberry pies!

Fresh Strawberry Pie

I also had some berries left over to use in my yogurt and smoothies. Next batch of strawberries will be used to make some homemade jam. Yum!

Nothing better than homemade pie . . . and the strawberries look so sweet and luscious indeed! Yummmmmm!

And who cares that the crusts have that rustic feel . . . we live in the country! That's the way it should be. And besides, if you had trimmed it off nice and neat — what a waste!

I was fortunate enough to be gifted several slices of the yummy organic strawberry pie, the crust was definitely buttery and flaky.

My dessert was gobbled down before dinner, there was no waiting for my gifted pie, it was calling to me. I don't even remember eating dinner actually.

I would say the crust was prize winning perfect, not ugly at all in my opinion, my eyes were closed from the experience anyway.

Yum yum....they are beautiful....strawberry is an experience ....it use to be (in Michigan) that my mom would extend the strawberries with rhubarb (as that was plentiful)...So to have strawberries all by themselves...wow that is great......Have a geat day...Loretta
